What we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and the control you have over your information. Written in plain English.

This Privacy Policy explains how AMBS Studio ("AMBS Studio", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you visit our website, sign up for our newsletter, or use one of our products — including AMBS Dividend Studio, where you can record the stocks you own and ask an AI assistant questions about them.
Two things are worth reading before anything else:
1. If you use Dividend Studio, we store financial information about you. The tickers you own, how many shares, what you paid, and every buy, sell and dividend you log. That is sensitive. Section 2 says exactly what it is and where it lives.
2. When you ask the Studio AI or the Tax assistant a question, a summary of your portfolio is sent to Anthropic — the company that makes Claude, the AI that writes the answer. That is how the assistant is able to talk about your holdings instead of generic advice. If you would rather no outside AI company ever see your numbers, do not use the AI assistant features. Everything else in the product works without them. Section 4 explains this in full.
The organization responsible for the information described here (the "data controller") is AMBS Studio, a sole proprietorship. A sole proprietorship is not a separate legal entity from its owner. [Business mailing address — to be added.]
For any privacy question or request, email ambsstudio1@gmail.com.
To use a paid product you create an account with an email address and a password. Accounts are managed by Supabase Auth (see Section 3). We never see or store your password in readable form.
In Dividend Studio you enter your holdings by hand. Each entry you save is stored in our database, and it can include:
Together, that is a record of what you own and what you paid for it. We treat it as sensitive personal financial information. Your cost basis, market value, gains and projected income are calculated from these entries each time you open the app — we don't store a second copy of them.
We do not connect to your brokerage. Dividend Studio has no link to Fidelity, Schwab, Robinhood, or any other broker. We never ask for and never receive your brokerage login, your account number, or your real balances. Everything in your portfolio is there because you typed it in, and an account name like "Fidelity Roth IRA" is just a label you chose — it gives no one access to anything.
Your risk tier (conservative, moderate, or aggressive) and your monthly dividend income goal, if you set one.
If you set a price alert, we store the ticker, the condition, the target price, and the email address the alert should go to. Alerts are double opt-in: we send one confirmation email and the alert never fires unless you click the link in it.
When you buy a product we store a record that your account is entitled to it, when access was granted, and that it came from a Stripe payment. We never see or store your card number — your card details go straight to Stripe and stay there (Section 3).
Your plan includes a set number of AI questions per month. We keep a simple counter — your account, the month, and how many questions you've asked — so the limit works and so the "X of 25 questions this month" figure you see is accurate. We do not need to store the questions themselves to do this, and we don't.
If you join our newsletter, we collect the email address you submit. Signing up is voluntary and separate from having an account. The list is stored and sent with Kit (formerly ConvertKit).
We collect basic, aggregate analytics about how the site is used — page views, approximate region, device type, referring site. We do not use this to identify you personally. A small number of cookies or similar technologies keep the site working and let us measure aggregate usage; you can control cookies in your browser settings.
We do not collect phone numbers, and we do not send SMS or text messages. All marketing communication is email-only.
We don't run our own data centre. We use a small number of well-known service providers ("processors"). Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Our database and login system. This is where your portfolio actually lives. | Everything in Section 2 (a)–(f): your email, your holdings and transaction ledger, your risk tier and income goal, your alerts, your entitlement record, your AI usage count. |
| Anthropic (the makers of Claude) | Writes the answers for the "Ask the Studio AI" assistant and the Tax Q&A. An AI subprocessor. | Your question, the recent back-and-forth of that conversation, and a summary of your portfolio. Exactly what that summary contains is listed in Section 4. |
| Stripe | Takes payment at checkout. | Your card details, your billing information and your email. These go directly to Stripe — they do not pass through our database. |
| Kit (ConvertKit) | Stores the newsletter list and sends the newsletter. | Your email address, if you subscribed. |
| Our email delivery provider | Delivers transactional email — price-alert confirmations and alert notifications. | Your email address and the content of that alert (e.g. the ticker and target price). |
| Hosting providers | Serve the website and run the application server. | Standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) needed to serve pages and process requests. |
Each of these providers handles data under its own privacy policy and its own security practices, which we do not control. Our servers reach the database using a trusted server key, and every query is filtered to the account of the person who is logged in — one customer cannot read another customer's portfolio.
The market data we show (share prices, yields, dividend dates) comes from a market-data vendor. That is a one-way street: we receive prices from them, and we do not send them anything about you.
This is the part customers most deserve a straight answer on, so here it is.
The "Ask the Studio AI" assistant and the Taxes tab's Q&A are powered by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. We send your question to Anthropic's API and Anthropic sends back the answer. To make the answer about your portfolio rather than generic filler, we attach a summary of your data to that request.
What is sent to Anthropic every time you ask a question:
What is NOT sent to Anthropic:
So Anthropic does receive real numbers about your money — the shares you hold and what they're worth — but it does not receive the information that would tie those numbers to you by name.
Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy and its commercial API terms. Anthropic states that data submitted through its business API is not used to train its models, and that inputs and outputs are retained only for a limited period. We are relying on Anthropic's published terms here, not making our own promise about their systems — we encourage you to read them at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Your choice. The AI assistant is optional. Recording your portfolio, seeing your income projections, your allocation, your goal tracker, and your alerts all work without ever sending anything to Anthropic — the data only leaves our systems at the moment you press "Ask". If you don't want that, don't use the assistant.
One more thing about the AI conversation: the chat history you see in the assistant window is saved in your own browser's local storage, on your device. It is not stored on our servers. Clearing it in the app (or clearing your browser data) removes it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your portfolio with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else beyond the processors listed in Section 3. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California) you may have the right to:
Email ambsstudio1@gmail.com from the address on your account and say what you want deleted — your whole account, or just your portfolio data. We will confirm your identity, delete the data, and write back to tell you it's done. We aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days.
What happens when you ask us to delete your account: your profile, your entire transaction ledger and holdings, your alerts, and your AI usage counter are removed from our database. Your entitlement record and the payment record held by Stripe are retained where the law requires (see Section 6) — and if you delete your account you will lose access to the product you purchased, so please be sure.
You can also delete individual transactions from your ledger yourself, inside the app, at any time.
Our emails comply with the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and we honor opt-out requests promptly. Price-alert emails are only sent for alerts you set up and confirmed, and you can delete an alert at any time. You will never be added to a text/SMS list — we don't run one.
Your data is held in a managed database (Supabase) behind access controls, and traffic to and from the site is encrypted in transit. Access to your portfolio requires being signed in to your account, and our server checks on every single request that the data it is about to return belongs to the account that asked for it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but the amount of information we collect is deliberately small, and we do not hold your card number or any credential to your brokerage.
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live in order to purchase. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. If we ever change who receives your data — for example by adding a new AI provider or a new processor — we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing this page.
